10 Reasons Why

The Things You Won’t Have To Worry About

There is a lot to consider when selling your car privately.

Here are the top 10 things you won’t have to think about when we buy your car.

Click on the questions below to discover what happens when we buy your car or please feel free to contact us if you’d like more information.

1. How do I prepare my car for sale?

When you sell to us, the only preparation is a phone call.  There’s no need for cleaning and polishing, advertising or photography.  Easy.

2. I'm worried about people coming to my home - especially after hours?

We get it!  Security is major concern when selling your car.  We simply need to inspect your car and we’re happy to do that at a time and place that suits you. If you have concerns about our credentials, just let us know and we’ll provide you with all the information you need to ensure you feel comfortable, safe and secure when we visit you.

3. How will I handle a test drive? And what if someone wants a 3rd party inspection?

Let’s look at the test drive first. Again, this can raise concerns. Do you get into a car with someone you don’t know? Someone who may or may not be a good driver? Do you give them the keys to your precious car and let them drive off solo? None of these options are great for your sense of security.

We give you our personal information so you have peace of mind upfront.

Sometimes we won’t need to take your car for a drive, depending on its age and mileage.

However, if a test drive is required to check for any mechanical faults, we want you to feel comfortable.  We’re also happy for you to take us for a drive if you prefer.

Either way, our visit takes care of the 3rd party inspection, so you can cross that off the list and avoid more hanging around, more waiting, more.

Our visit will take about 15 minutes to inspect your car and take it for a test drive if needed.

4. What if someone wants to pay CASH?

This can always get tricky and is not recommended due to the protocols required from the ATO on banking.

Again it’s something you won’t have to worry about if you sell to us.

Once we come to an agreement, we fast-pay your funds with an immediate direct transfer via OSKO.

5. How do handle it if I my car's under finance and/or if the buyer requires finance?

Often people don’t realise how murky the finance waters can be.

Most finance companies require a vehicle to be out of debt before they’ll finance it for a new buyer. The process can become complicated and hinder your sale.

There are also security challenges if a private buyer pays out your loan.

Given our 100 years experience in the automotive space, we’re experts in loan security and the federal-government managed Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR).  We understand the process thoroughly.

The service we offer is to pay out your loan directly to your finance company and, at the same time, pay the remainder of the agreed price to your bank account. It’s smooth and seamless and you won’t need to have any dealings with finance institutions.

When we’ve come to an agreement to buy your car, we outline the process in the  documentation and contract that we’ll send you to ensure you’re comfortable and all the facts and figures are accurate.

In summary, these are questions you simply don’t need to worry about when we buy your car.

6. What about GST and Luxury Sales Tax?

Re GST, all new and used cars are sold with GST included.

There can be some confusion depending on whether you’re buying privately or as a business, but it’s not something you’ll have to worry about when you deal with Motor HQ.

The bottom line is that the price we agree on is inclusive of GST.

We also understand luxury car tax.

Again, if its applicable to your car, we’ll look after it for you depending on each individual circumstance.

It’s all part of our personalised service.

7. Am I comfortable negotiating?

Everyone’s aware that negotiation tactics can sometimes be uncomfortable and  unpleasant – occasionally, aggressive and downright ugly.

Equally negotiation is all part of the process and we pride ourselves on making it comfortable and pleasant, simple and fair, clean and smooth.

8. Is the first price is always really the best price'?

In our experience that old adage rings true .

People can spend weeks, even months, waiting for the price they want – only to discover, after wasting all that time, that the first offer they received was actually the best one.

We see it happen all the time.

That’s why we draw on our experience, contacts and market savvy to value your car – our finger is on the motor industry pulse so we can offer you a price that is on point with market trends.

9. How long would I wait for a buyer to complete the sale? Do I need to get a deposit? And what is required at the motor registry?

Completion time is the unknown with any private buyer. When we buy your car, we can complete the deal within hours – no waiting around, no uncertainty.

Once we agree on a price, we’re happy to leave you a deposit if required again can complete transaction within 24 hours.

Dealing with the motor registry is another time-consuming hassle you won’t need to worry about.  We simply give you our dealer code and address so you can register your notice of disposal – and we’re always here to talk you through it if needed.

10. When do I hand over the car and confirm full payment?

Another hassle you don’t have to worry about.

Private buyers generally expect your car on spot – they’ll offer transfer the funds to your account via an electronic transfer and then want to drive away with your car. But what if you’re not seeing those fund on your phone, in your bank account?  Suddenly you’re in a very awkward and uncomfortable scenario. Even if you do see the funds, you could still be in a world of trouble given the growing frequency of scammers and new age con artists these days.

We get all of that.  We understand you want – and need – to see confirmation of funds for your precious car.  We transfer the funds first – immediately via OSKO -then, after we’ve paid you, we organise a time to collect your car that’s convenient for you.
