Motor HQ is the latest addition to Jamie’s business portfolio, which also includes a film production company, boutique hospitality chain and luxury real estate catalogue.

Now Jamie feels the time is right to launch Motor HQ to provide a personalised car buying service that takes the hassle out of selling your car.

Despite the lifestyle Jamie’s business acumen has facilitated, he’s always remained a grounded and humble ‘quiet achiever’ who develops enjoyable, mutually positive and long lasting relationships with everyone he encounters.

Beyond his personality and ethos, Jamie’s approach to everything he tackles is ‘never be greedy and NOTHING is impossible’.

Cars are a constant in every facet of his life and Jamie draws on his vast contact network to find the perfect car for every scenario. A case in point is his production company’s first feature film Bosch & Rockit, starring Luke Hemsworth and Rasmus King, which features a rare and classic Eleanor Mustang. While audiences from here to the United States waxed lyrical about the movie, motor enthusiasts raved about the car.

Jamie started working in the automotive industry as a young teen and quickly enjoyed success in New Zealand, the United States and then Australia, the place he’s called home for the past four decades.

His wholesale car trading business, QLD Wholesale Network, is regarded as one of the most reputable, reliable and successful in the land.

During the years, Jamie’s has developed an unsurpassed knowledge and well-honed sense of the car market as well as a toolbox of systems and procedures that simplify the car buying process and create value for all, the kit we use here at Motor HQ.

In 2020, when COVID-19 shut down the international film industry and stalled his other businesses, Jamie decided to pursue a life-long dream and make a feature film. He launched Black Pearl Productions, became an independent film maker and defied the COVID odds.  Backed with Jamie’s finances and ‘never say never’ determination, Bosch & Rockit became one of the first feature films in the world to wrap during the pandemic.

Jamie is a firm believer in ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ and begins every day at 5am with a dawn swim, gym session and steam bath – often with one of his three sons.

The 64-year-old lives for his family and has recently welcomed his first grandchild.

“Family is everything,” he says. “I’d be nothing without my beautiful and brilliant wife, my amazing sons and now my simply gorgeous granddaughter who is just pure joy.”

We coined that title for Brett because we find humour in its paradox.  Brett is the least ‘bossy’ person you’ll ever meet, yet the most brilliant at seeing the big picture, keeping his eye across everything and making things happen.

Brett has a special way about him that makes everyone from his clients and massive contingent of mates to the team here at Motor HQ feel good – confident and secure, happy and looked after.

His shearer Dad and special needs teacher Mum instilled a ‘just get on with it’ work ethic and a grounding of ‘respect and understanding for people’ that define Brett today.

The family man and confessed sports tragic is as fair dinkum as you’ll get and the ultimate team player.

Whether he’s inspiring us here at Motor HQ, lining up with his over 35s soccer squad, cheering on his beloved NRL Roosters or coaching his three children’s soccer teams, you always know you can count on Brett.

Brett left school at 15 when he was offered a job at a Mudgee bank. At 21, he felt the time was right for a sea change and traded the bush for the big smoke.

In Sydney one thing led to another and his banking career soon morphed into trading cars. With his approach and wits, Brett soon etched a winning reputation in the automative space and has never looked back.

Unsurprisingly, one word sums up why he loves working with cars – people.

“For me it’s more about the people than the cars,” Brett says. “I like doing a deal and I like dealing with people. I’m not a car person at all, but I enjoy the business of the transaction process and looking after my clients.

“That’s why I’m excited about Motor HQ – we can offer a service that’s a win-win.”

The ‘busy and quick’ nature of the Motor HQ process also appeals to Brett’s nature and, as with his move to Sydney, he feels the time is right for our new car buying service.

“After 30 years spent understanding the car space, I’ve seen the way people transact cars change,” he says. “Long gone are the days of advertising your car in the newspaper and trusting the people who turn up at your door.

“It’s all online now and I think a lot of people don’t really understand what’s involved in selling a car.  It can be a very complicated, risky and time-consuming maze to work through.

“That’s why we launched Motor HQ – to make selling your simple and safe, enjoyable and hassle-free.”

Beau describes Motor HQ’s Easy 9 Action Plan as a win-win.

“Our service helps people who want to sell their cars privately through the entire process – we’re with them every step of the way,” he says. “It’s great because it works out well for both of us.”

As the son of Motor HQ co-founder Jamie Arscott, Beau grew up with a passing parade of cars, from luxury and vintage vehicles to family wagons, in the driveway of the family’s Gold Coast home.

“I’d always see them come and go and think I want one of my own to drive away one day,” Beau says. “I’d watch Dad work and really liked the idea of trading so when I left school I gave it a shot.”

Beau joined national car dealership Dutton One at 17 and learned the ropes for three years before deciding to make the change to Motor HQ.  While Beau inherited his father’s business brain, he says it was the Dutton Group that taught him about cars.

“The biggest thing Dad taught me was to be a good person,” Beau says.  “He didn’t teach me anything about cars, but rather to respect people and treat everyone the right way. And that’s definitely helped me in all facets of my life, including the car business.”

Jamie is ‘absolutely’ proud that Beau has joined Motor HQ, but his greatest source of pride in his 20-year-old son is the man he’s become.

“It was Beau’s choice to get into the car game and he’s 100% dedicated himself during the past three years, starting from the bottom, to learn the business,” says Jamie.  “He’s already gaining a reputation as a good and fair trader and I think that’s because he totally applies himself to everything he tackles. It was the same with his sport – Beau’s ‘all in or not at all’ and I think that’s one of the keys to his success. He’s always been an old soul, mature above his age and he just gets people.”

At Motor HQ Beau will be working under Jamie’s partner Brett Hogden.

“I’m thrilled Beau’s decided to join us,” Brett says.  “He’s young, energetic and trustworthy with a great ethos and disciplined work ethic.”

Markham remains an avid golfer and it’s likely you’ll run into him on any given weekend at Cromer Golf Club, where he’s a member.

“I love the social side of playing golf and have done ever since my Pro-Am days,” he says. “There aren’t many sports where all levels can play together and that’s the beauty of golf – it doesn’t matter whether you’re a great golfer or a beginner, everyone can play together.”

Markham is also a member of the Sydney Cricket Ground, another place you’re likely to run into him during Test, Sheffield Shield and Big Bash matches, which also offer a great opportunity for him to catch up with his old Balmain team mates.

Sport will forever be in Markham’s DNA, but these days he loves nothing more than spending time with his two teenage daughters – and taking them for drives, in his Porsche of course.
