Beau Arscott

Beau traded a budding career as an extreme athlete for cars – here’s why…

It seemed Beau was destined for a career in sport. The natural athlete starred at flyhallf in his school’s 1st XV rugby team and, by the time he was 17, had a cabinet full of sailing, skiing, surfing and motor sports trophies. Even his teachers were grooming him to set up his own extreme sports business and part of his curriculum included being a jet ski stuntman at Sea World on the Gold Coast.

So, why did Beau choose cars?

“It keeps me busy, I like cars and joining Motor HQ is an opportunity to change people’s perceptions about car dealers,” says Beau. “A lot of people have the impression that dealers are dodgy and out to rip them off, but we’re not. We’re actually trying to help.”

Beau describes Motor HQ’s simple 9 step purchase process as a win-win.

“Our service helps people who want to sell their cars privately through the entire process – we’re with them every step of the way,” he says. “It’s great because it works out well for both of us.”

As the son of Motor HQ co-founder Jamie Arscott, Beau grew up with a passing parade of cars in the driveway of the family’s Gold Coast home.

“I’d always see them come and go and think I want one of my own to drive away one day,” Beau says. “I’d watch Dad work and really liked the idea of trading so when I left school I gave it a shot.”

"He’s always been an old soul, mature above his age and he just gets people.”

Beau joined national car dealership Dutton One at 17 and learned the ropes for three years before deciding to make the change to Motor HQ. While Beau inherited his father’s business brain, he says it was the Dutton Group that taught him about cars.

“The biggest thing Dad taught me was to be a good person,” Beau says. “He didn’t teach me anything about cars, but rather to respect people and treat everyone the right way. And that’s definitely helped me in all facets of my life, including the car business.”

Jamie is ‘absolutely’ proud that Beau has joined Motor HQ, but his greatest source of pride is in the man his son’s become.

“It was Beau’s choice to get into the car game and he’s 100% dedicated himself, starting from the bottom, to learn the business,” says Jamie. “He’s already gaining a reputation as a good and fair trader and I think that’s because he totally applies himself to everything he tackles. It was the same with his sport – Beau’s ‘all in or not at all’ and I think that’s one of the keys to his success. He’s always been an old soul, mature above his age and he just gets people.”

At Motor HQ Beau will be working under Jamie’s partner Brett Hogden.

“I’m thrilled Beau’s decided to join us,” Brett says. “He’s young, energetic and trustworthy with a great ethos and disciplined work ethic.”
